Overview

The VB120 IP-PROBE is a blade based continuous monitoring platform with applications in any network where digital video is carried across IP infrastructure. Built specifically to industry needs, this network service tool is ideal for both pure IPTV networks and hybrid networks with IP transport cores such as digital cable and terrestrial networks. The VB120 can be equipped with the optional VB250 (COFDM) and VB260 (QAM) interfaces, further extending functionality at the edge.

The VB120 IP-PROBE includes both optical and electrical Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for connection to the video segment. Management and control is available either through a separate 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface or in-band through the Gigabit Ethernet interface. Furthermore, the VB120 has an ASI input port and an ASI output port.

The ability to continuously measure all your media services makes the VB120 invaluable for confidence monitoring, thus facilitating for a more rapid network expansion. The innovative RDP technology (Return Data Path) enables easy re-routing of remote signals from regional locations into a central location for decryption and advanced signal analysis. RDP reduces truck rolls and otherwise necessary on-site visits by skilled and expensive engineers.

The VB120 has been designed to support all modern encapsulation standards including ISO/IEC13818-1 Transport Streams and MFRTP. The hardware is dedicated and built to telco-grade standards for maximum reliability and minimum maintenance. The VB120 IP-PROBE is hosted in an accompanying 1RU 19" chassis. The 1"RU chassis is capable of hosting up to 3 VB120 IP-PROBE modules, or any combination of the VB120 with QAM (VB260) or COFDM (VB250) interfaces.

The VB120 IP-PROBE continuously measures MDI for all IP multicasts according to IETF RFC4445. MDI is a compound number expressing media packet loss and IP packet jitter. The VB120 further contains BRIDGE Technologies own patented technology called MediaWindowTM. MediaWindowTM allows for current and historical RFC4445 data to be presented in an intuitive and visual way for easy understanding of the media flows in an IP network.

With SNMP trapping and XML export the VB120 IP-PROBE is easily integrated into existing NMS systems either directly or through the optional BRIDGETECH VideoBRIDGE Controller (VBC). The VBC option allows for advanced alarm correlation and filtering. Standalone access is achieved through the use of a standard web browser avoiding the need for a dedicated client application having to be installed.
