MPEG Scan Automated Media File Validation Software

Overview

Today, the exchange of media files is becoming the norm. While it is possible to manually verify each media file for each of the large number of file formats available, MPEG Scan software can automatically check and perform quality control (QC) on each media file in real-time. As a part of an active broadcast workflow, the MPEG Scan software performs a number of actions based on its test outcomes. It can be configured to send an e-mail message, move a file, or even create a report. In this way, the software enables a complete  and automatic quality-control workflow. Using MPEG Scan software avoids the cost and partial coverage of
visually inspecting video content. With a Web-based interface, MPEG Scan can be run from any standard browser. It also comes with a Web services applications programming interface (API) for easy integration into any workflow.
Multiple File Formats and Analysis
The MPEG Scan application supports MPEG-2 transport streams, media exchange format (MXF) wrappers, and MPEG-2 program streams. In addition, it lets broadcasters perform both objective and subjective testing, including TR 101 290 priority 1 and 2 testing, multiplex and rate analyses, audio-level testing, template checking, and video freeze/black frame detection.
VOD Server Provisioning
An ideal testing solution for VOD content providers such as telcos and cable operators, the MPEG Scan software provides the essential content validation needed during the VOD provisioning process. When  multiple content providers upload their movies and trailers as MPEG-2 transport stream files to an FTP site, the MPEG Scan software ensures content validity from a series of automated tests, including compliance to existing standards (TR 101 290 and CableLabs), compliance with encryption-process requirements, and VOD requirement constraint checks such as fast forward, pause, and fast rewind.
Broadcast Monitoring
As the industry rapidly moves towards file-based video distribution, broadcasters need to verify the media files they transmit across the digital broadcast network. By deploying MPEG Scan agents at strategic locations, they can maintain control of their infrastructure, ensure the best quality of service (QOS), and protect their revenue streams. In a broadcast monitoring environment, MPEG Scan software is ideal for  automation system providers, video server manufacturers, content providers, and cable, satellite and terrestrial operators.
