CMA 1820 Compressed Media Analyzer Software

Overview

The CMA 1820 is the ideal solution for compressed media in-depth analysis and encoding compliance. It enables designers, engineers, system integrators, and network operators to quickly and easily verify standards compliance, identify media interoperability issues, develop products around new CODECs, and troubleshoot transmission issues.

With full support for H.264, MPEG-2, and VC-1 video along with AC-3, AAC, and MPEG audio, the CMA 1820 is well-suited for use with all contemporary broadcast equipment. Enhanced options such as closed caption and PTS/DTS alignment analysis can provide even more benefit to the demanding user.

Whether it is used in conjunction with other Sencore analysis and monitoring equipment or on the laptop of a mobile professional, the CMA 1820 is the perfect tool for use with all next-generation digital video networks.

Features

The CMA 1820 decodes pictures from video elementary streams (ES) and displays the information using picture overlays and data boxes. Key information on coding parameters is given including slice and macroblock level data. The syntax view provides values and descriptions of all the syntax elements down to the syntax header level. The analyzer also includes a Dynamic Buffer Analysis for H.264 that tests the compliance of the bit stream to the Hypothetical Reference Decoder Model.

H.264 Video Capabilities:
• Video Decoding
• Macroblock (MB) details with partition grid, overlays for MB types, MB size in bits, MB quantization parameters (QP) and motion vectors; plus detailed characteristics with reverence picture list content and Coded Block Pattern (CBP)
• Extraction of H.264 raw byte within a desired video picture range
• Detailed NAL syntax and conformance testing
• Dynamic buffer analysis; HRD model for CPB and DPB buffers

MPEG-2 Video Capabilities:
• Video Decoding
• Macroblock (MB) details with partition grid, overlays for MB types, MB size in bits, MB quantization parameters (QP) and motion vectors; plus detailed characteristics with prediction mode and Coded Block Patterns
• Extraction of MPEG-2 video raw byte files within desired video picture range
• Detailed syntax view with compliance checking

VC-1 Video Capabilities:
• Video Decoding
• Macroblock details with partition grid and overlays for the MB type
• MB size in bits and MB quantization parameters that include motion vectors plus detailed characteristics  with transform types and Coded Block Pattern
• Extraction of VC-1 raw byte files within a desired video picture range
• Detailed syntax view with compliance checking

The audio analyzer portion of the CMA 1820 decodes audio frames from the elementary stream and displays the waveform along with other useful characteristics and troubleshooting information. It also allows for playback and saving of one or more channels of audio.
The CMA 1820 supports AC-3, AAC, and MPEG Audio.

AC-3, AAC, and MPEG Audio Capabilities:
• Accurate audio waveforms from mono to 5.1 digital
• Playback and save in stereo mode of selected channels within desired audio frame range
• Main characteristics of the audio stream as well as the details of each frame
• Synchronization with associated video stream

The CMA performs analysis on the transport stream level whenever a TS file is opened. TR 101 290 level 1 and 2 compliance testing is provided, with all warning and error messages displayed and logged for your convenience. Additional closed caption and PTS/DTS analysis options are available as well.

MPEG-2 Transport Stream Capabilities:
• Provides hierarchical view of the transport stream
• TR 101 290 Priority 1 and 2 (Configuration Available)
• Video Player (MPEG-2 or H.264 and MPEG audio, AC-3, and AAC)
• Trimming and saving SPTS with the desired video range
• Dynamic buffer analysis for H.264 video Closed Caption Analysis Capabilities:
• Option provides an in-depth view of H.264 and MPEG-2 closed captions overlaid on the video
• Support for simultaneous, frame by frame analysis of NTSC (608), DVTCC (708), and SCTE-20 captions
• Syntax view provides a detailed look at raw caption data
• NTSC Extended Data Service (XDS) decoding and interpretation PTS/DTS Analysis Capabilities:
• Option provides detailed analysis of the access units and associated PTS and DTS for both video and  audio
• Easy to use graphical view display the PTS/DTS in a time line representation
