Overview
The VB20 is the most powerful portable monitoring and measurement platform available. Built specifically for the requirements of the advanced IP engineer and for lab use, this tool is excellent for both IP transport cores based on L3 routing and IP/MPLS. Featuring both optical and electrical GigE inputs, separate management and ASI input, the VB20 merges an overwhelming feature set with all interface needs.
The ability to monitor continuously 180 services with all measurements makes the portable VB20 invaluable for field use. Its ruggedized exterior and fanless design make this probe the perfect fault-finding tool for the mobile engineer. With full support for both the MPEG-2 and MRFTP encapsulation standards and all current codecs, the VB20 is the tool of choice. Critical parameters such as RFC4445-MDI and detailed jitter values give accurate readings of network performance. With the RFC4445 based patented MediaWIndow™ historical data can be easily accessed for meaningful visualization of media flow in IP networks. Whether establishing or modifying service setting on complex routers and switches, the VB20 facilitates the whole process.
The power of confidence monitoring is further enhanced by continuous monitoring and alarming of RFC4445 parameters, bandwidth overflow/underflow and signal loss. With advanced threshold settings including error-seconds, alarm granularity can be set to useful standards. The unique FSM™ framework also allows checking and continuous monitoring of middleware and network services vital to customer QoE.
SNMP trapping and XML export enable the IP-Probes to be implemented in any NMS system. Each IP-Probe runs an HTTP server with the client as a web browser; therefore there is no need to install custom software on computers needing access to the measurement data. Web 2.0 techniques such as AJAX are used to facilitate advanced interface behavior in a standard web browser without the need for any plug-ins. Basic setup is achieved through the built-in USB to RS-232 converter, eliminating the need for an external interface and facilitates the setting of IP addresses for access to the IP-Probe.
